Hi and Bye started with an idea: to innovate and change movie-making. Our mission is to change peoples minds, share each others pain, happiness, and give insight towards different and creative situations. Hi and Bye is to create movies with a beginning, middle, and an end, but different every other time. We hope for our viewers to look at our movies with our simple, straight to the point, and short and sweet style, just like our greetings and farewells.

2006: Where it all started

At Starbucks Coffee in Daly City: Ahmed Animo, Mark Mangaccat, Paolo Fonacier, Anton Fonacier, and Alex Deguzman were bored. One of them seemed to have a passion for movies, and wanted to start brain storming for what kind of short movie they wanted to do, just for fun. Many ideas came up, but none seemed to really peer through and go into action. Many attempts ended up as lost footage.

2007: The gray matter

Alex Deguzman and Justin Del Pilar: Became the center piece of the year 2007. Many ideas were typed up and is still in good use for production for the years to come, the dream was kept alive with a short video shot with a kodak, and a webcam blog. During this time many of the ideas were kept aside, waiting for the right time for a chance to be shot.

2008: The turning point

During an English class that deals with creating a production on stage, Kenneth Laugico met Alex Deguzman, who first collaborated on the class by creating a commercial for them. Over the long periods of time spent editing the video, Alex and Ken decided to create videos for the classroom. Labeled, “The PCN”. The videos were such a success they ended up to be on Bakitwhy.com, as the 4th best PCN video in the country. During the summer, unfortunate times happened to HiandBye, where equipment was stolen. This created a long hiatus within HiandBye’s production.

2009: The change is now

Alex and Ken have revamped themselves and innovated the way the videos of Pilipino Cultural Night are seen as, in KABA: A PCN Mockumentary. They are now trying to create shorts that hit a plethora of all genres. Looking on back from where they have came from to where they are now they choose to keep pushing forward while learning to give people what they want. A HiandByeProduction product that will make their day. Straight to the point, and different everytime.
